Construction Trades Expo

Ms.'s Spour's Construction I & II classes had the opportunity to attend the Construction Trades Expo at the Cole's County Memorial Airport.  The students had the opportunity to learn about the local trades and union opportunities.  The different groups that we saw represented were: METC and Electricians #146, Operating Engineers #841, Bricklayers #8, Plumbers and Pipefitters #149, Boilermakers #363, Ironworkers #22, Roofers #97, Construction Craft Laborer, #159, Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons, Aviation, Martin Equipment and CAT.  Students learned that through apprenticeships they can earn money, learn a specific skill and earn college credit if needed in most cases for free.  Students also learned that apprentices, at 18 years of age, can make $17 to 32 dollars an hour depending upon what trade they choose.  A BIG shout out to our local EIEFES #340 for hosting this event!
