2020 Return to School Plan

Stewardson-Strasburg CUSD #5A

Return to School Plan

With the expectation of school starting in a few weeks we wanted to make sure you had the latest information on our Return to School plan and what we know to this point. At the July 15th school board meeting, the board adopted a plan and resolution indicating the district would follow the rules and expectations handed down by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

At this time, we intend to return to school five days a week and at our regular hours.  The first day of school will be Friday, August 14, 2020, and we will be in attendance from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

As required by the above agencies, the District will abide by the following guidelines or expectations:

  1. Face coverings will be required. If you do not have your own, one will be provided for you. Face coverings will not be required when outside if social distance can be maintained.

  2. No more than 50 people in one space.

  3. Social distancing will be required where possible.

  4. All students, staff, parents, visitors will be subject to daily symptom screening unless they are able to self-certify they are symptom free.

  5. The district will increase cleaning and disinfecting practices.

Due to these circumstances, we would ask that no children be dropped off before 7:45 a.m. Upon arrival, students would enter the traditional locations, then students will be expected to go directly to their designated area. Additional details regarding 1st day dropoff for kindergarten and Open House will be forthcoming.

Here is a link to the complete Return to School Plan adopted by the Board of Education. Please keep in mind this is a very fluid situation and changes to this plan will take place as deemed necessary or as required by ISBE and/or IDPH.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to provide the best possible educational opportunities and safe environment for your children.
