Welcome to 1st Grade! Inserted Image

Hello, my name is Leslie Richter.  This is my 12th year of teaching early elementary and my eighth year at Stew-Stras.  I have previously taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and currently 1st grade.   First grade is such a great time of learning, exploration, and socialization.  Each year I am always impressed with the growth (academic, social & emotional) each student makes.  First grade is great!

I am pleased to be your child’s teacher and help him/her develop these important skills.  I will be sending home weekly newsletters, informing you of learning topics, upcoming events, as well as themes that we will be discussing during the school year.  I believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teacher, and that communication between school and home is essential to student success.

I'm a Shelby County native and grew up in rural Windsor.  I graduated from Windsor High School and attended Eastern Illinois University.  I graduated from EIU in 2003 with a degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education.  I currently live in Shelbyville with my husband Clint, our little boy Johnathan, and our two cats.  We are hoping to move (into Stew-Stras school district) by the time our son starts school.

I'm looking forward to a great year of learning!
